Major League Gaming 2012 Season Generates 334% Growth in Live Online Viewers

(November 14, 2012)

NEW YORK, Nov. 14, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Major League Gaming (MLG), the world's largest eSports league, today reported 334% year over year growth in live streaming video viewers. A record-breaking more than 11.7 million unique viewers tuned in to watch the four 2012 MLG Pro Circuit Championships online. In comparison, the 2011 Pro Circuit season drew 3.5 million unique online viewers. More than 15 million hours of live online video were consumed during Pro Circuit weekends by MLG's passionate audience of young, male gamers. Compared to online communities for traditional sports leagues, MLG's demographic is younger, more male dominated and more affluent. (60% 18-34 year olds; 85% male, and over 40% HHI $100k+ - Comscore).

"MLG's 334% growth in live online audience this year surpasses growth demonstrated by traditional sports. This is a testament to the mainstream demand for competitive gaming and power of live streaming," said Sundance DiGiovanni, CEO, Major League Gaming. "The last two years have been the largest in MLG's 10-year history with over 636% growth in live viewers. I only expect that growth to continue in 2013."

The 2012 MLG Pro Circuit season traversed the US with video game competitions in Columbus, OH (March 23-25), Anaheim, CA (June 8-10), Raleigh, NC (August 24-26) and Dallas, TX (November 2-4). Each three-day event was streamed live online in HD up to 1080p via www.majorleaguegaming.com. Millions of gamers competed via MLG's Pro Circuit and online tournaments in 2012.
